A 54-year-old Hopewell Township man has been charged with first-degree murder and weapons charges after allegedly stabbing his father to death, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office and the Hopewell Township Police Department.
Prosecutors said the 82-year-old victim was found on the kitchen floor of her Denau Road apartment by Hopewell police officers who responded around 6:30 p.m. Nov. 22 to a report of a man who had been stabbed.
The victim received multiple stab wounds and died at the scene, the prosecutor’s office said. Police have notified the Mercer County Homicide Task Force to assist in the investigation.
Police said the man allegedly stabbed his father to death on Nov. 21 at their Denau Road apartment.
The man was taken into custody at the Hopewell Police Department on November 22. A motion was filed to keep him in custody until the court, the prosecutor’s office reports.
