MONSEY, N.Y. (WABC) – Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run in Rockland County.

The incident happened on Sunday evening in Carlton Road.

Authorities said the woman, identified as Miriam Susman, was killed while walking on the road.

It is not yet clear if anyone is in custody.

Ramapo City Supervisor Michael Specht released the following statement:

“I join our entire community in mourning the tragic death of Ms. Miriam Susman on Sunday evening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sussman family at this difficult time, and our hearts and minds are with the entire Ramapo community as they mourn this terrible loss. The safety of all our residents is of the utmost importance and the Ramapo Police Department is thoroughly investigating the circumstances surrounding the untimely death of Mrs. Sussman while she was apparently walking on Carlton Road. May the Sussman family know no further sorrow and may May the memory of Ms. Miriam Sussman be a blessing.”

Few other details have been released.
