NEW YORK (WABC) – It’s a Thanksgiving tradition — New Yorkers in need of a hot meal spend the holiday at the Bowery Mission.

For the first time since the pandemic, people ate inside.

This was the 143rd year the organization hosted the Thanksgiving dinner.

On Thursday, more than a thousand people had the opportunity to eat there.

More than 350 volunteers were treated to hearty hot meals throughout the day.

Traditional turkey dinners, homemade pies and hot coffee awaited all guests. They were also given a practical set of hygiene products and winter accessories.
