Ralph Paolono resigned his Lynnwood City Council seat today, a day after the state Senate unanimously confirmed his nomination as a Superior Court judge.
A former nationally ranked wrestler, Paolono spent seventeen years as a City Council member representing Ward 2.
The Lynnwood County Republican Committee must now submit the names of three candidates to the City Council, which can then select one to fill the remaining thirteen months of Paolone’s term, which ends at the end of 2023.
Paolone, 58, will soon be sworn in as a judge. If he is re-nominated and confirmed in seven years, he could remain on the bench until December 2033.
