NEW YORK (WABC) – The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade returns to the streets of New York for its 96th march.

This year’s parade will include thousands of marchers through the streets of Manhattan on Thursday, Nov. 24, starting at 9 a.m.

But before the boats, marching bands, celebrities, clowns and more could head south along the route, giant helium balloons had to be inflated Wednesday night.

Balloons of 2022

New balloon giants joining the line-up include the one-eyed minion Stuart from Despicable Me 2, a new green dinosaur, an Apatosaurus, the debut of the cartoon Bluey and a new Diary of a Wimpy balloon.

Returning giant balloons include Ada Twist the Scientist, Baby Boss, Chase from The Haunted Patrol, Pillsbury Dogboy, Red Titan from Ryan’s World, Ronald McDonald, Papa Smurf from The Smurfs, ” SpongeBob SquarePants”. ” and Pikachu and Eevee.

SECURITY

Spectators lined up at West 72nd Street and Columbus Avenue.

After the screening, viewers were able to enter the inflation viewing area on 72nd Street and Central Park.

A hot air balloon observation deck wound around the American Museum of Natural History. Spectators then left the viewing area at West 82nd Street and Central Park.

MOVEMENT

A balloon warning was in effect on Wednesday.
