A Bradley Beach County Council candidate is seeking a recount after losing the Nov. 8 general election by seven votes in a contest that saw two of four incumbents lose re-election.

Final tallies in the nonpartisan municipal election for four council seats show Deborah Bruinel seven votes behind incumbent Al Gubitosi, council president.

Meredith DeMarco finished first with 829 votes, followed by Jane DeNoble (806), incumbent John Weber (813) and Gubitosi (794). Brunell is fifth with 787 votes, followed by Thomas Gavin (735), incumbent Tim Sexsmith (675) and incumbent Randy Bonnell (541).

Brunelle and Gavin ran together.

The judge will consider the motion to recount the votes on Wednesday.
