four Buddhist monks in Thailand were sent to a rehab clinic after testing positive for methamphetamine, according to reports.
Monks, including an abbot at a temple in Phetchabun province Bung Sam Phan Districton Monday tested positive for the drug, Thai officials told AFP.

“Now there are no monks in the temple, and nearby villagers are worried that they cannot do any merit,” said official Bunlert Tintapthai.
Merit-making is a Buddhist practice that involves followers donating food to monks as a good deed. More monks will be sent to the temple to resume activities inside.
Thailand is the main one drug transit point for methamphetamine coming from neighboring Myanmar, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime said.
