USA Representative Tony GonzalezThe Texas Republican stood by the incoming House Speaker during a news conference Tuesday at the US-Mexico border in Texas and called for the resignation of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Gonzalez, a veteran, represents a district in Texas that spans more than 800 miles along the porous and notorious border illegal migrants entering USA

To help shed light on the problem of illegal immigration, Gonzalez said he organized 16 border trips with officials.
There have been more than two million encounters with migrants this year alone, and he said he urged the Biden administration to work with House Republican leadership to secure the border.
“Our border is wide open and people are dying every day,” Gonzalez said. “These are the discussions I would like to have in Congress. But it starts somewhere.
The Texas Police Department said several immigrants are hiding in the canyons.

“Changes are coming,” he added. “These changes are now. These changes don’t happen without those willing to roll up their sleeves and fight for them.”

Shortly before Gonzalez took the podium, Congressman Kevin McCarthy called for the resignation of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
McCarthy said the secretary claims the border is secure, but he has blocked ICE and Border Patrol agents from doing their jobs.

McCarthy added that in the past 10 days alone, three Border Patrol agents have taken their own lives, bringing the number of agents who have taken their own lives this year to 14.

“His actions created the largest wave of illegal immigration in history,” McCarthy said of Mallorca. “Our country may never recover from Secretary Mayorkas’ dereliction of duty.”
Gonzalez was also joined by Rep. Dan Crenshaw, a Republican, who said Border Patrol agents have had more than four million encounters with illegal immigrants since Biden took office and “he doesn’t care.”

Crenshaw said the cartels are just across the border, calling it a national security crisis, and they are “flooding the U.S.”deadly fentanyl.“
“They are at war with us, and we are not doing anything,” he said.

González won re-election to another two-year term in Congress with just over 17% more votes than his opponent, Democratic candidate John Lira.
One of the issues Gonzalez ran on was border security, and since taking office he has introduced legislation to end catch-and-release, increase funding for local law enforcement agencies along the border, and eliminate measures that keep Border Patrol agents in processing centers rather than on the front line.

“Change is coming,” he said Tuesday. “Change will be driven by the people standing here.”
