Thanksgiving travelers heading home on Sunday, considered one of the busiest days of the year, may experience flight delays at Newark International Airport due to windy weather.
Weather and wind report is in effect, according to the Federal Aviation Administration, which advised people to check with their airline to determine if their flight will be affected.
According to the airport, as of 3:00 p.m., about 50 flights were delayed flight tracker. The average delay was one hour rain reports and wind gusts up to 4 mph.
Incoming flights also had mid-air delays of 15 minutes or less, according to the FAA.

Newark is ranked as one of the worst airports for delays and cancellations. Last year, a quarter of the flights are delayed or cancelled, according to the US Department of Transportation.
The American Automobile Association estimates that about 55 million people travel this year for Thanksgiving. The majority, about 49 million, traveled by car.
