BRONX, N.Y. (WABC) — Police are investigating after a gas station worker was fatally shot in the head in the Bronx on Tuesday night.

The incident happened just after 7pm at the Sunoco gas station located at 2990 Boston Road.

Police say the 49-year-old employee was approached by a man who shot him in the head and fled the scene.

The victim was taken to the nearest hospital, where his condition is improving. Police believe he will survive.

They say the suspect was last seen wearing a sweatshirt.

So far there have been no arrests.

Police are investigating what led to the shooting.
