To make things easier for you, the three largest carriers—UPS, FedEx, and the US Postal Service—have released their 2022 holiday shipping timelines. They are almost identical to the 2021 deadline – The only difference is that this year the deadlines are a day earlier, and Christmas falls on Sunday. You will need to shop three days earlier than last year to meet the USPS ground shipping blackout.
Another thing to note is that many retailers have their own shipping times for online shopping, so you may want to be aware of these times when shopping – some stores will have banners or shipping countdowns on their websites to help you navigate your holiday shopping . Alternatively, you can always choose to order from the street or from a store on Christmas Eve.

Last day of ground delivery before Christmas
This year, ground delivery times vary by carrier. For FedEx, the last day for ground delivery is Wednesday, December 14th. For USPS, the last day for ground delivery is Saturday, December 17th. UPS, on the other hand, offers an estimate on its website based on its operating hours, holiday schedule and operational adjustments.

UPS Christmas Shipping Times
The following dates are recommended last days to send holiday gifts within the US for delivery by Saturday, December 24:
- Reason: Check UPS website for details
- 3-Day Pick: Tuesday, December 20th
- Day 2 broadcast: Wednesday, December 21
- Next day broadcast: Thursday, December 22
note: Just like last year, UPS has suspended its operations service guarantee has made operational adjustments on most packages until further notice, including extending UPS Next Day air delivery hours from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
FedEx Deadlines for Christmas
The following dates are recommended last days to send holiday gifts within the US for delivery by Sunday, December 25:
- FedEx Home Delivery, FedEx Ground: Wednesday, December 14th
- FedEx Express Saver, FedEx 3Day Freight: Tuesday, December 20th
- FedEx 2Day: Wednesday, December 21st
- FedEx 1-Day Shipping, FedEx Extra Hours: Thursday, December 22nd
- FedEx SameDay: Friday, December 23rd
USPS Christmas Deadline 2022
The following are recommended “shipping dates for expected delivery” through Sunday, December 25 in the contiguous US (lower 48 states):
- Trading floor: Saturday, December 17
- First Class Mail: Saturday, December 17
- Priority Mail: Monday, December 19
- Priority Express Mail: Friday, December 23
