President Biden called for “stronger action” on gun control in a statement released Wednesday morning after police said an employee at a Virginia Walmart used a gun to kill six people and injure four others.
“Jill and I feel sorry for these families, for the Chesapeake community and for Commonwealth of Virginia, who just survived the horrific shooting at the University of Virginia this month,” Biden said. .
“This year, I signed the most significant gun reform in a generation, but it’s not enough.” – continued the president. “We have to take tougher measures.”
A mass shooting at a convenience store in Chesapeake, Virginia, was carried out by an employee, police said. The male employee used a gun during the attack and died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Chesapeake Police Chief Mark Salesky told reporters Wednesday morning.

The condition of four other hospitalized patients was not reported.

The suspect has not been identified as police say they have not yet contacted his next of kin. Officials say he was there before the shooting not familiar with law enforcement.
The police said shooting investigation continues.

The incident is the latest fatal shooting in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving.
Nov. 13 on campus shooting at the University of Virginia three football players died and two were injured. A week later, a shooting at a gay club in Colorado Springs, Colorado, left five dead and 17 injured.

Biden called the latest shooting in Virginia “another horrific and senseless act of violence.”
“There are now more families experiencing the worst loss and pain imaginable,” Biden said, adding that “there are now even more empty tables across the country this Thanksgiving.”
