HOPEWELL — Mercer County Prosecutor Angela J. Onofre and Hopewell Police Chief James Rosso announced that a Hopewell Township man has been arrested and charged with his father’s murder.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Hopewell police responded to a report of a stabbing at an apartment in the 700 block of Denau Road. Once inside, officers found 82-year-old Ishmil Jackson on the kitchen floor with multiple stab wounds. Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hopewell officers secured the apartment and alerted the Mercer County Homicide Task Force.
The investigation revealed that on or about Monday, November 21, Joel Jackson stabbed her father to death in their shared apartment on Denau Road.
54-year-old Jackson is accused of murder and possession of a weapon. He was taken into custody Tuesday night at the Hopewell Police Department. Prosecutors have requested that Jackson be remanded in custody pending trial.
