PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — The conversation on the corner turned deadly for the young father. Now his family is hoping you can provide information to help find his killer.

Clinton Handy is candid about her son, Miles Fisher Handy.

“Miles was fun loving… I mean he wasn’t perfect. He’s had his problems, but ever since he had his daughter, you know, he’s tried really hard to make his life a good father to his daughter,” Clinton Handy said.

On Wednesday, September 21, around 9:30 p.m., a 26-year-old man walked outside along the 5800 block of Rising Sun Avenue in the Lawncrest section of Philadelphia.

“He was standing on the corner talking to a gentleman and then another gentleman came out of the alley and just started shooting at him. (The suspect) shot him in the chest and once in each leg.”

He died in hospital. As for the motive for the shooting, Clinton Handy believes his son was the target.

“After the police got into his cell phone, there was, you know, talk that maybe somebody owed money or an argument he had a week ago, but we just don’t know,” Clinton Handy said.

Authorities in Philadelphia are offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible. All you have to do is call the Citizens Advice Bureau at 215-546-TIPS. All calls will remain anonymous.
