UNION – A city police officer was injured in a crash on Vauxhall Road Wednesday morning.
A preliminary investigation revealed that around 9:20 a.m., the officer’s patrol car collided with a Jeep Cherokee on Vauxhall Road near Springfield Avenue. Both vehicles sustained major damage and were towed from the scene, Capt. Pietro Diggeno said.
The officer was taken to an area hospital, treated and released.

The driver of the Jeep, a 28-year-old Saddle Brook woman, was not injured. She was issued several summonses for motor transport, the police informed.
