HIGHSTOWN – The Trenton High boys basketball team is one step closer to a potential rematch with rival Trenton Catholic.

The Tornado, seeded sixth, took to the road and on Friday in the quarterfinals of the Mercer County tournament upset Highstown 64-46. They will meet Notre Dame on Tuesday in the semifinals at CURE Insurance Arena.

Devontay Hutson finished with 22 points and Antoine Bridget added 16 for Trenton.

Robert Ives scored 17 points and Keenan Rice scored 15 points for Hightstown.

ROBINSVILLE – The Irish, seeded No. 10, have lifted the huge frustration of second-seeded Ravens after a 31-point effort by the great man Stasher Matell.

Jake Croce scored 13 points and Donavan Cottrell added eight for Notre Dame, who will face Trenton in the semi-finals.

Brian Herbert scored 16 points and Tyler Handy scored 12 for Robinsville, who will become number 2 when the Group III Central Jersey tournament starts on March 1.
