Over the past two years, New Jersey hospitals have served tens of thousands of patients with COVID-19, and the cost of this care combined with the loss of income has hurt them. On Friday, U.S. Senators Corey Booker and Bob Menendez (both from New Jersey) advertised nearly $ 12 million to fund health facilities through the latest federal government bill of $ 1.2 trillion. About $ 4 million will be allocated to Newark University Hospital to build a new operating room for trauma. Funding will also go to nine other hospitals and medical centers across the state.
“It’s not just targeted funds, it’s not just millions of dollars.” said Booker. “These are resources for people who are going to use that money to take the best game in America and continue to set the national standard.”
