For New Jersey residents looking for summer work mostly in nature, hires the Department of the Environment.

Hundreds of seasonal jobs and year-round vacancies are available, including lifeguards at Island Beach State Park and other state parks with water facilities. Salaries start at $ 17.50 per hour and $ 16 per hour for junior lifeguards over the age of 16. Aquatic species positions are also available for a fee of $ 27 per hour.
