Pop sensation Taylor Swift’s Instagram post endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for president has garnered over 9 million likes. Among the notable supporters who liked the post are Jennifer Aniston, basketball star Caitlin Clark, and Selena Gomez. Following Harris’s debate against her Republican challenger, Donald Trump, Swift, 34, shared her support with her 283 million followers, declaring her vote for Harris and running mate Tim Walz in the November 5 election.

Swift’s post also served as a call to action for first-time voters, urging them to register. A spokesperson from the US General Services Administration revealed that Swift’s custom URL led to 337,826 visits at vote.gov on Wednesday.

In her Instagram message, Swift praised Harris as a “steady-handed, gifted leader” capable of guiding the country with calm rather than chaos. She also took a playful jab at Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, by signing her post as “Childless Cat Lady,” referencing Vance’s 2021 comment about some Democrats.

Supermodel Karlie Kloss, married to Jared Kushner’s brother, liked Swift’s post, while Aubrey Plaza from “Parks and Recreation” and “The White Lotus” also endorsed Harris in her own Instagram post, featuring a cat and the caption “HARRIS WALZ.”

In response, Elon Musk, a Trump supporter and CEO of Tesla, reacted on his social media platform X with a comment deemed “disgusting,” “misogynistic,” and “creepy” by some.

Swift, addressing her followers, expressed her confidence in Walz, highlighting his long-standing advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and women’s autonomy. Walz, who was on MSNBC during the endorsement announcement, expressed gratitude and encouraged Swift’s fan base to “Get things going.”

Following Swift’s endorsement, the Harris-Walz campaign launched pre-orders for campaign merchandise inspired by Swift’s fans, including friendship bracelets.

Trump dismissed Swift’s endorsement, noting he was “not a Taylor fan” and suggesting that her liberal stance would have consequences in the marketplace. He also referred to a previous fake social media image of Swift supporting him, which Swift criticized as an example of the dangers of misinformation and AI.

Swift, who supported President Joe Biden in 2020, emphasized the importance of transparency and voter registration in her post. The race between Harris and Trump remains tight in opinion polls, with Harris criticizing Trump’s Supreme Court appointments and his stance on abortion rights.
