ROCKVILLE CENTER, Nassau County (WABC) – A tanker crashed into the front of the Rockville Center, catching fire and closing the Sunrise Highway for a morning trip.

A tanker carrying gasoline reportedly lost control on Sunrise Highway on North Central Avenue around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday.

The car overturned and crashed into an empty window, which previously housed the salon La-Z-Boy.

The tanker caught fire, which overturned at the plant.

The driver managed to escape from the burning tank without serious injuries.

The Sunrise Highway was expected to be closed in the morning as firefighters contained any spilled gasoline from the tanker.
