The New Jersey team stunned in the first round of the NCAA tournament. № 15 Saint Peter’s withdrew № 2 in Kentucky’s ranking from 85 to 79 due to a huge upset. Peacocks from Jersey City are only the tenth 15th seed to win the first round since the network grew to 64 teams in the 1980s.
Head coach Shahin Holloway didn’t have time to celebrate the victory, instead assembling his team to shake hands with the Kentucky players. Holloway says he led his team to the fight, and that’s just what they did. St. Peter’s hosts No. 7 seed Murray State on Saturday night in the second round.
