UNIONDAIL, Nassau County (WABC) – A shootout involving police ended in an accident on Uniondale Street and one suspect was detained.

The driver of the dark vehicle refused to stop so that the police for unknown reasons tried to stop him only until the first hour of Tuesday night.

Police officers were shot, and officers opened fire in response.

The car crashed on Nassau Road and Arthur Street, the suspect fled on foot.

After a brief persecution, one person was detained. Charges await.

A police officer was taken to Nassau University Medical Center with minor injuries.

Nassau Road was blocked between Avenue B and Arthur Street as police investigations continued.
