As part of their long-standing partnership, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) Somerset, RWJBarnbas Medical Institution, has officially opened a new space as part of Iron Peak Sports & Events, a venue for sports, events and family entertainment. On March 11, the ribbon-cutting ceremony took place.

As part of their long-standing partnership, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) Somerset, RWJBarnbas Medical Institution, has officially opened a new space as part of Iron Peak Sports & Events, a venue for sports, events and family entertainment.

The new facility will be used for a variety of purposes, including for sports training and community health initiatives.

“We’re really excited about what this partnership meant for Iron Peak,” Greg Wilke, managing partner of Iron Peak Sports & Events, said in a statement prepared by Iron Peak Sports. “This new section will serve to strengthen RWJBarnabas Health’s partnership and integration into even more of our programs, including Yeti basketball and volleyball clubs.”

The 1,200-square-foot space, located directly inside the entrance to Iron Peak Sports & Events, will serve as a place for sports training for Iron Peak athletes and partners.

It will also be used by the RWJUH Somerset Community Health Department for community initiatives including educational programs and health reviews.

“RWJUH is committed to promoting the health and well-being of our communities,” said Tony Coffee, president and CEO of the hospital. “The partnership with Iron Peak will help us increase the safety of young athletes, and will give Hillsborough residents more access to our educational programs and views so they can take steps toward a healthy lifestyle.”

To date, the partnership between the two organizations has included sports training services for both outdoor and Iron Peak events. In addition, RWJBarnabas Health has been a consultant since Iron Peak established health and safety policies and procedures, the statement said. As the partnership grows, Iron Peak will integrate RWJBarnabas Health into most of its programs, providing the highest level of service to athletes who train at the facility.
