COPIAG, LONG ISLAND (WABC) – An investigation is underway after a police detective shot dead a suspect Saturday afternoon in Suffolk County.

Nassau County detectives interviewed a man at his home in Copiago about an incident in Nassau County when they say he threatened them with a knife.

The detective pulled out a gun and shot the suspect. He was seriously injured but is expected to survive.

Suffolk County Police are investigating what caused the shooting.
