It happened around 4pm in the 2000 quarter of South Beachwood Street.
Police say four officers arrived to find that the suspect, a 36-year-old man, was actively stabbing his 72-year-old aunt in an apartment building.
Officers then picked up the man, but police said it was not affected.
“The man was brandishing a hunting knife, a large hunting knife. They ordered the man to drop the knife. (He) ignored their orders, after which the officers pulled out their tasers and tried to beat him at least twice,” Philadelphia said. Police Sergeant Eric Grip.
Investigators say the man was shot dead at least once after he refused to lay down his weapon and lunged at officers.
“We heard three jumps, three shots,” said Michael Buchi, who worked nearby. “It’s alarming.”
An unknown suspect and his aunt were taken to the district hospital, where they later died.
It was not immediately clear what caused the knife blow.
“The senseless violence in the city affects everyone … We will not rest until all the perpetrators are brought to justice,” Commissioner Daniel Outlo said on Twitter after the violence on Tuesday.
The police say that the participants of the investigation are on administrative duty.
The senseless violence in the city affects everyone. Within minutes and on opposite sides of town the lives of 2 women and 1 young girl were completely changed by violence. Their age – from 12 to 72 years. A 12-year-old child was shot in her stable condition …
