PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – Philadelphia police have released information about a shooting that killed a 17-year-old boy in Germantown on Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened around 4:30 pm on the 300th quarter of East Ashmid Street.

When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old man with a gunshot wound in the upper bedroom.

Police say a 9-year-old child was shot dead.

Investigators initially believed the 17-year-old accidentally shot himself.

But now it is said that the 9-year-old picked up a gun and pulled the trigger.

No further details have been released at this time.
