MANHATTEN, New York (WABC) – Police are looking for a man who hit a man with a hammer on the head on a subway platform in Manhattan on Tuesday night.

Officials say the couple was standing on a subway platform on line 1/2/3 of 14th Street Station around 9:15 p.m., when one of them accidentally collided with a suspect.

It is said that the suspect took out a hammer and attacked the victim, hitting him on the head.

He was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he is expected to survive.

The suspect escaped from the station.

Police believe the suspect is transgender.

He is described as 6 feet tall and skinny. He was last seen dressed in purple lipstick, a wig, blue jeans, red shoes and a red jacket.
