Man who dumped 500-pound pasta in New Jersey woods faces no charges

OLD BRIDGE, NJ – The mystery surrounding the trail of pasta found in a New Jersey town has finally been solved.

Officials in Old Bridge, Middlesex County, have announced that no charges will be filed against those responsible. dumped more than 500 pounds of pasta in the woods earlier this month.

Human rights defenders of the community say that the unknown man was suffering from a mental illness.

Residents of Old Bridge were surprised when a large portion of pasta, spaghetti and ziti was strewn along the stream at Veterans Park.

Police believe the giant piles of raw pasta, which stretched more than 25 feet into a wooded area, were removed from their packaging and then dumped along a creek.

Officers say they were initially unaware of the incident because there were no calls or reports from residents, other than Facebook posts.

After a report was made, two utility workers arrived to clean up the area.

Authorities say they were able to dispose of the entire paste in less than an hour.
