A worker was fatally shot during the robbery of a Queens smoke shop, police say

RICHMOND HILL, Queens (WABC) — Police are looking for three suspects after a smokehouse worker was fatally shot in Queens.

The video shows the three suspects running out of The Plug smoke shop at 109-27 Jamaica Avenue in Richmond Hill after shots were fired.

The shooting happened near the Sample New York sneaker store and a doctor’s office. One eyewitness, who Eyewitness News spoke to exclusively, said he rushed into the smokehouse after hearing gunshots to see the worker on the ground and in a bad condition. The 20-year-old worker did not make it.

Police believe the shooting was a robbery. They are looking for three suspects, all wearing dark hoodies.

The eyewitness also says that smokehouses in the area were targeted.

Police Commissioner Kichant Sewell passed by the scene and checked in with one of the inspectors on Saturday.

The senseless shooting confused the client Delma.

“He seemed very nice, very nice. It’s sad – there was no need. Like, why would you shoot him?” – said Delma.

According to the police, the robbers stole smoking products worth $100 and $50.
