Hollywood may supply the world with talent, but New Jersey is the ultimate supplier.
How do we know? Let’s count the ways. The 2022 Emmy Nominationsannounced on Tuesday, are proof positive.
Here’s a rundown of just some of the many Jersey connections in the nominee pool for the 74th Emmy Awards..
The 2022 Emmy Awards will air at 8:00 PM ET on Monday, September 12, on NBC.
Prequel to the TV series “For all the hard”Better call Saul,” which just received its sixth nomination for Best Drama Series, has a Jersey connection right up there in the form of Thomas Schnautzan executive producer, director and screenwriter who grew up in Kearney, Barnegat and Barnegat Light.
We just spoke with 55-year-old Schnauze mid-season premiere of the final season of the AMC show. This year, it’s nominated for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series for its gripping midseason finale.”Plan and execute”, which he also managed.
“Better Call Saul” is up for seven Emmys this year. HBO’s Euphoria High School has a lot to celebrate, including its first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama Series and a total of 16 Emmy nominations, including Emmy winner Zendaya for Lead Actress in a Drama Series and Sydney Sweeney for Supporting Actress.
Zendaya and Sweeney are stars Barbie Ferreira and Hunter Schafer star in a strong cast, both with Jersey ties.
Ferreira, 25, who are we profiled earlier this year grew up in Maywood and appears alum a Hackensack High School who appears in the future Jordan Peele’s horror film No. Shaffer, 23, was born in Trenton before moving to North Carolina.

The hit HBO Max series “Haki”, co-created by the Sussex’s Paul W. Downsalready won three Emmys behind the goal last year.
The show is again nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, Comedy Direction, Lead Actress and Supporting Actress, for a total of 17 Emmy nominations.
We profiled Downs, 39, on the eve of the second season of “Hacks” in May. In 2021, he shared Emmy win for comedy writing with fellow showrunners and co-writers Lucia Agnello (his wife) and Jen Statsky.
Downes plays Jimmyagent of series host Deborah Vance, a veteran comedian from Las Vegas, who played Jean SmartWorld Health Organization received an Emmy Award. for the role and nominated again this year.

Ewing Kiara Mooring competed to join megastar Face Big Grrrl’s dance team on Amazon’s reality series “Lizzo’s Beware the Big Grrrls.”
Mooring’s time on the reality show has now been nominated for an Emmy.
Today, she’s a Lizzo dancer, and the show is up for Outstanding Competition Program and a total of six Emmys, including one for Outstanding Ensemble in a Reality Program.

Jersey Tom Pelphrey just received his first Emmy nomination for a guest role Ben Davis in “Ozark.”
The Netflix drama, which ended its four-season run in April, is up for 13 Emmys, including best drama series.
Pelfrey, 39, who grew up in Howell, is an alum Visual and Performing Arts Center at Howell High School and studied acting at Rutgers’ Mason Gross School of the Arts.
Charlie TahanThe 24-year-old, who grew up in Glen Rock, also appears in The Ozarks as Wyatt Langmore.

Another Mason Gross graduate of Rutgers, Sebastian Stanplayed by Tommy Lee in the Hulu limited series “Pam and Tommy.”
An actor receives his first Emmy nomination for a role in a lead role in a limited or anthology series or movie.
Stan, 39, starred alongside Emmy nominee Lily James — who received a lead actress nomination — as Pamela Anderson in the series, which received a total of three nominations. Seth Rogen was nominated for supporting actor for his role as Rand Gauthier.
ABC series “Shark tank,” which debuted in 2009, had never won an Emmy before, but was nominated again.
One of the “sharks” or investors in the series Barbara Corcoranwho grew up in Edgewater.
Corcoran, 73, founder of real estate firm The Corcoran Group, is nominated along with fellow Sharks — Mark Cuban, Laurie Greiner, Robert Geriavec, Draymond John and Kevin O’Leary — for best host of a reality or competition program. This is her fifth Emmy nomination.

The Netflix mega-hit”Strange things” returned in May and released the second part of its fourth season earlier this month.
The cast has now received their fourth Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama Series, one of 13 total nominations for the Duffer brothers’ show.
Little Egg Harbor Gaten MatarazzoThe 19-year-old Pinelands Regional High School graduate has played Dustin Henderson on the series since its debut in 2016.

The biggest winner of today’s Emmy Awards was “Continuity” by HBO which scored 25 nominations, the most of any series this year.
Montclair Dagmara Dominchyk45 years, plays Karolina Novotny, head of public relations for Waystar Royco, in the show, which is again in the running for best drama series after winning last year. (Watch the interview with the actor about “Continuity” and much more.)
Hope DavisThe 58-year-old, who grew up in Tenafly and plays Sandy Furness, the daughter of Logan Roy’s rival Sandy Furness, was nominated for an Emmy for guest actress in a drama series.
director Lauren Scafaria (“Hustlers“), 44, who grew up in Holmdelalso nominated for an Emmy Award for directing the season three episode “Too Much Birthday”.

Another current resident of Montclair, Stephen Colbertnominated again for Best Variety Series for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
This year, the performance received five nominations. He’s never won an Emmy, but Colbert, 58, has several for “Stephen Colbert’s Election Night 2020: Democracy’s Last Stand: Building America Great Again, Better 2020,” a Showtime campaign special, and for writing Comedy Central. The Colbert Report” and “The Daily Show”.
“Meisel” is no newcomer to the Emmys, having won 20.
Actor Michael ZegenThe 43-year-old, who grew up in Ridgewood, plays Joel in the series, which is again nominated for best comedy series. Series star Rachel Brosnahan is nominated again for lead actress in a comedy series.
The Amazon show received 12 nominations this year.
Jon Stewart’s Apple TV+ series “The problem with John Stewart,” which premiered in September, is up for an Emmy for a nonfiction or special series.
The longtime “Daily Show” host, who has won 23 career Emmys, left the show in 2015. His new series received two nominations this year.
Stewart, 59, grew up in Lawrenceville and owns Hockhoxon Farmanimal sanctuary in Colts Neck, with his wife, Tracy Stewart.
Showtime’s hit series “Yellow jackets” should win a special Jersey Emmy for number of Jersey connections both behind and in front of the camera, from a real Jersey man Christina Ricci to the fictional setting of the Garden State. One character even impersonates a Star-Ledger reporter.
Created by a married couple Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickersonwho are both from Jersey, the show centers on members of a New Jersey high school football team in 1996, when their plane crashes in the Canadian desert en route to a football tournament, and in 2021, when the survivors are still haunted by their injuries .
“Yellow jackets” is up for an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, Lyle and Nickerson are nominated for two Emmys, Richie is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress and Melanie Linsky nominated for lead actress in a drama. In total, the series was nominated for seven Emmy Awards.

The show is also star-studded Juliet Lewis and a series of young actors playing the main characters when they were teenagers trying to survive in the wilderness.
The Yellowjackets live in the fictional Wiskayok, New Jersey, but Lyle grew up in Belmar and attended Lawrenceville School and Nickerson spent his younger years in the Middletown region.
Christina RicciThe 42-year-old, who plays Misty Quigley in the series, spent much of her childhood, from ages 6 to 15, living in Monclerwhere she played a lot of soccer.
Her co-star Cypress is brown45-year-old actress Taisa Turner is running for the New Jersey state senate. In real life Cypress was born in Point Pleasant. Cypress and Lyle are graduates of Belmar Elementary School.
