According to the Princeton Police Department, a 50-year-old Michigan man allegedly removed an Apple Macbook laptop and its charger from a backpack that was left in Hinds Plaza near the Princeton Public Library on March 5.

The victim was able to track the location of the laptop using a cell phone, police said.

The alleged thief was located on Nassau Street and had a laptop computer with him, police said. During the investigation, he was also found with a seven-inch knife and several burglary tools.

The man was charged with theft, illegal possession of weapons and possession of hacking tools. He was processed and transported to the Mercer County Correctional Center.
