On Tuesday, Republican Darius Mayfield won the Republican organization in the counties of Somerset and Mercer, making him a clear favorite in the fight against the representative of Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Ewing) in the 12th district of New Jersey.
He defeated film producer Nick Katuchi, who wants to “save evil”, 61-0 votes.
Mayfield has already secured an organizational line at Hunterdan. The final convention will be held Saturday in Middlesex County, where Mayfield unanimously recommended a review committee.
The winner of the Republican primaries will face a tough fight with Watson Coleman, who won four races in Congress by a wide margin.
Before becoming the first black woman to represent New Jersey in the U.S. House of Representatives, Watson Coleman served as the majority leader in the Assembly and chair of the Democratic State.
