The latest debacle of Elon Musk’s “Twitter files” has angered more liberal journalists after a new Owner of Twitter has unexpectedly fired former FBI general counsel James Baker from the company, it was announced on Tuesday.

Substack reporter Matt Tybee announced that the release of the internal documents was delayed due to the discovery that Baker had “vetted” the documents beforehand, unbeknownst to Musk.

A former FBI official expressed support for censoring the story about Hunter Biden’s laptop in the first set of Twitter Files Taibbi released last week. While at the bureau, Baker worked under former director James Comey and played a key role in the investigation into Russian collusion tied to Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

Musk wrote on Twitter: “In light of concerns about A possible role for Baker In order to suppress information important for public dialogue, he was removed from Twitter today.”

This news caused different reactions on the Internet. Conservative pundits cheered Musk for “cleaning house,” while Republicans urged Baker to testify before Congress.

But some liberal media members see nothing wrong with Baker’s involvement in reviewing documents that describe how the company decided to suppress The story of Hunter Biden’s laptop in October 2020.

Mother Jones reporter Dan Friedman suggested that Baker was “just a hard-working guy” who was unfairly maligned.

“Jim Baker has been involved in various controversies because he was the FBI’s general counsel. Is he a ‘Zelig type’ or just a hard-working guy? Baker has been the subject of similar insinuations, but has not been found to have leaked anything.”

NBC News reporter Ben Collins also took the spotlight away from Baker, writing, “The scandal here is that Elon Musk found out who his company’s deputy general counsel was six weeks after he bought it.”

New Republic reporter Matt Ford broke the story not a scandal.

“Twitter’s general counsel had the audacity to review internal documents before they were publicly released,” he tweeted.

Substack attorney and author Ken White also downplayed the news, writing in a Twitter thread: “Wow, this Musk & Taibbi Jim Baker narrative is desperate and dumb.”

In subsequent tweets, he criticized Musk’s “idiotic audience” and derided the latest news as “especially dumb.”

“But today’s new mini-update of ‘scandal’ is particularly dumb.” Oh, did the in-house general counsel review the materials about the controversy before they were sent to the press? SHOCKING,” he wrote.

Liberal news outlets that denounced Hunter Biden’s laptop as Russian disinformation before the 2020 election paid little attention to Twitter’s latest mind-blowing developments.
