CLEARWATER, FL (AP) – Kyle Schwarber and Philadelphia Phillies ended their four-year contract for $ 79 million on Sunday.
Schwarber is earning $ 19 million this year and $ 20 million in each of the next three seasons.
Schwarber, a 29-year-old outfielder who has weakened, parted ways with Washington and Boston last season. He scored 0.266, making 32 home runs and winning the Grand Slam for the Red Sox in the AL Series of Champions.
Schwarber is likely to act as Philis ’assigned striker, spending time in the far field and at first base.
Philadelphia also has a five-year, $ 100 million contract with free agent Nick Castellanos, who last year scored 0.309 with 34 homers, 100 RBI and 0.939 OPS last year for the Cincinnati Reds.
