RALEIGH, NC – The Christmas holiday travel season is just around the corner, and AAA expects more than 112 million people to hit the roads, rails and air. If you’re flying, be prepared to be patient for busy airports.

Before you leave the house airporttake these steps to hopefully make your trip less stressful.

When it comes to luggage, decide whether you’re taking a carry-on or checked bag. If you’re checking bags, you can invest in Apple Air Tags.

Melissa Clurman p Points Guy says, “They don’t stop your bag from getting lost, but they let you know where your bag is at all times, so you can help the airport help you.”

Clurman adds that if your luggage doesn’t show up at your final destination, if you have an air tag, you can find it and let the airlines know where it is.

When it comes to your checked baggage or carry-on, make sure you remove all old tags from past flights, and make sure your name and phone number are in multiple places in your luggage in case the airline tags come off.

If your flight is delayed or canceled, take action as soon as you are notified of the problem.

“Use your phone. This is your best tool. Download the airline’s app, use the app to simultaneously try to get help, call, wait in line, and do it all at the same time,” says Clurman.

Another tip if you have access to airline lounges: “Go straight to a lounge that also has agents, and these agents will usually be available without a queue. They will give you VIP service. You may be able to change your flight right away . Early birds will definitely get a better flight on this one,” suggests Clurman

You should also remember that if the airline cancels your flight, you are entitled to a full refund, you do not need to agree to a credit.

It is also important when you arrive at the airport before your flight. Don’t wait an hour before departure, there will be long queues, so give yourself plenty of time.
