Burlington County Republicans backed businessman Bob Healy Jr. to Congress in New Jersey’s 3rd District.
Healy will face Ian Smith, owner of the Atilis Gym gym in South Jersey and a well-known critic of Gov. Phil Murphy at the June primaries of the Republican Party. The winner will compete with representative Andy Kim (D-Moorestown).
By nominating a successful businessman and philanthropist like Bob Healy, we can begin to bring common sense back to our nation’s capital and become the deterrent and balance of this failed president, ”said Sean Erlen, chairman of the Burlington County GOP. “Unlike Andy Kim, Bob is not a DC insider. From running a business that employs more than 1,600 people in South Jersey; for leading charities working with at-risk youth in Burlington County, as well as women and children in Sierra Leone, Bob knows how to meet vital needs both at home and abroad. ”
Burlington also supports former Collingswood school board member Claire Gustafson in her race for the removal of MP Donald Norcross (D-Camden) in the 1st constituency.
Mike Ditzel, a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and lieutenant in the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department, will run for sheriff.
Former Moorstown Education Board member Jeff Fortune will be a Republican candidate for county commissioner.
“The Burlington County Republican Committee has a long history of successfully recruiting and supporting diverse and dynamic candidates for elected office,” Erlen said. “We are proud to continue this tradition with a letter that is ready to regain control of the House of Representatives and give Republicans a seat at the table in Mount Hall.”
