This afternoon the Ministry of Justice released criminal case filed against David Wayne DePope, the man who allegedly assaulted Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul, on Saturday night. DePape is charged with violating 18 USC ยง 115(a)(1)(A), influencing, obstructing, or retaliating against a federal official by threatening or injuring a family member, and 18 USC ยง 1201(d), kidnapping.

It should not be surprising that an 82-year-old man, having received a blow on the head with a hammer, would evoke resentment instead of sympathy – we live in disgusting times. But the GOP’s mass acceptance of the wild theory that Mr. Pelosi was assaulted by a prostitute was damn rude.

“The Internet remains invincible,” joked the former president’s son, Donald Trump Jr. retweet image of a pair of male panties and a hammer. “Also, if you replace the hammer with a red feather boa, you can be Hunter Biden in an instant.” (A good thing young Dee is a family man and a non-drinker, ahem.)

Louisiana Republican Representative Clay Higgins tweeted image of Speaker Pelosi covering her eyes with the text “The moment you realize that nudist hippie prostitute on LSD was the reason your husband didn’t go to your fundraiser.” (He later deleted it.)

Even Twitter’s new CEO, Elon Musk, joined the action.

Among the more political wing of the GOP, the reaction wasn’t much better: RNC Chairman Ron Romney McDaniel to complain that her party is accused of inciting violent rhetoric.

“This is what Democrat politics brings,” she whined on Fox, trying to make it seem like the attack was the result of a Democrat effort to defund the police or something.

But in a criminal case, it’s a completely different story. DePape, 42 years old conspiracy theorist who lived in a garage and regularly spread right-wing and anti-Semitic hoaxes online, broke into the residence while Mr. Pelosi was asleep in bed. After being Mirandized, DePape openly admitted that he entered the house with zip ties, duct tape, rope and a hammer “ready to detain and injure Speaker Pelosi.”

DEPAPE stated that he was going to hold Nancy hostage and talk to her. If Nancy told DEPAPE “the truth” he would let her go, and if she “lied” he was going to break “her kneecaps.” DEPAPE was sure that Nancy would not tell the “truth”. During the interview, DEPAPE stated that he views Nancy as the “leader of the pack” of lies in the Democratic Party. DEPAPE later also explained that by breaking Nancy’s kneecaps, she would then have to be taken to Congress, which would show other members of Congress that actions had consequences. DEPAPE also generally explained that he wanted to use Nancy to lure another person to DEPAPE.

Mr. Pelosi managed to call 911, but DePaipe did not leave because, he told the arresting officers, “just like America’s founding fathers with the British, he fought against tyranny without surrender.” When the police arrived and told DePape to drop the hammer, he instead turned and hit Mr. Pelosi over the head with it.

Literally none of this has anything to do with โ€œViolence and Crime [being] is raging in Joe Biden’s America,โ€ as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green tweeted. This is a lunatic who bought into the daily rhetoric demonizing Speaker Pelosi as the leader of a crime syndicate usually associated not only with fraud and Marxism (lol) but also with pedophilia and Satanism.

FFS, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy publicly fantasized about returning the speaker’s hammer so that he could beat Nancy Pelosi with him.

But please tell us how this is happening, because the Democrats want to abolish bail and the death penalty. If only progressive prosecutors had cracked down on BLM, this would never have happened, right?

This is, of course, sarcasm. Because what else is left for us if a significant part of the electorate will continue not only to believe the lie that Pelosi met with a prostitute, but also to laugh at the fact that his skull was broken when a madman tried to kidnap his wife.

This country, manโ€ฆ I don’t know.
