According to the official synopsis, Liaisons Dangerous is a daring prelude to Laclau’s classic 18th-century novel that focuses on the origin story of its iconic characters, the Marquise de Merteil (Alice Englert) and the Vicomte de Valmont (Nicolas Denton), who met passionately young lovers in Paris on the eve of the revolution. This contemporary take on the classic story takes viewers through wonder and horror, beauty and degradation, seduction and deception in pre-revolutionary Paris. The young couple’s survival as they seek to right the wrongs of their past depends on their skills in seducing and manipulating not only the French nobility, but each other as well. The current Marquise de Merteil (Leslie Manville) navigates his own path in the human world, using the power of secrets to regain control, and Valmont, who will stop at nothing to reclaim his recently stripped title. Their love story is the heart of the series.

The cast also includes Kosar Ali, Carys van Houten, Hilton Pelser, Fisayo Akinade, Michael McElhatton, Nathanael Saleh, Kalet Dalal Chancho, Hakim Kaye-Kazim and Tom Ulashikha.
