Mott Haven, Bronx (WABC) – A woman found dead at the NYCHA complex in the Bronx had her throat cut and stabbed in the chest, police said.

Respondents found Bian James, 37, unconscious and unresponsive at an apartment at NYCHA’s Betances Houses on East 147th Street in the Mott Haven section around 2:45 a.m. Saturday.

Police said an ambulance responded to the scene and found her dead at the scene.

Police said she was found on a couch with her throat slit and a knife in her chest.

There are no detentions, the investigation is underway. The motive for the malicious attack remains unclear.

James’ family said she was the mother of two young children, a son of Junior, 12, and Mai, 8. It is unclear whether the children were in the apartment at the time of the attack.
