Burlington County Attorney Scott Coffin has announced that a 28-year-old Browns Mills man was sentenced on March 9 to 15 years in New Jersey prison for sexually abusing a young girl and recording on his cell phone.

Cody Rodriguez must serve the entire term before being eligible for parole under the sentencing. Philip E. Haines, JSC In September 2021 in the Supreme Court he pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault (first degree).

The investigation began in March 2021 after Rodriguez showed a friend the materials of sexual abuse of children on his mobile phone. The man who viewed it informed the victim’s parents and they contacted the Pemberton Police Department.

The investigation revealed that the attacks occurred several times during 2020. Rodriguez was acquainted with the victim and her family.

“We congratulate the man who took action after learning about these horrific photos and videos,” said prosecutor Kofina. “Anyone who has reason to believe that a child is being abused in any way should contact the police immediately. We need to protect those who are often unable or afraid to seek help on their own. ”

Rodriguez has been prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Stephen Eife, head of the special unit for victims of the BCPO.

The investigation was conducted by the Pemberton City Police Department and the Attorney General’s Office. Leading investigators were PTPD detective Stephen Price and BCPO detective Jen Marchez.
