MUNT HOLLY – Chatsworth man accused of trying to date underage girl for sex, authorities say
Hazelton Newman, 30, allegedly tried to have sexual intercourse by talking to a girl on Snapchat, the Burlington County Attorney’s Office said.
“It is believed that Newman could communicate electronically with other underage girls,” the prosecutor’s office said on Wednesday, asking the public for help in the investigation.
The investigation began when the mother contacted Burlington City police about Newman’s alleged communication with her daughter, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
It was alleged that Newman knew the girl was a minor, “when he tried to lure her to a meeting in his neighborhood so they could engage in sexual activity.”
Newman also allegedly sent the girl “videos and photos of him engaging in sexual intercourse with an unknown woman,” the statement said.
He was arrested Tuesday after executing a search warrant at his home on the first block of Baptist Road. He was held in the Burlington County Jail.
Newman is accused of trying to seduce or entice a minor and endanger the welfare of a child.
Charges are just charges. Newman is not convicted in this case.
Anyone who knows about the illegal activities is asked to call Detective Prosecutor Siaban McClintock at 609-265-5311.
