EAST BRUNSWICK – Two days before Christmas, a son was charged with his mother’s murder
Jason Gordon, 41, of New York, was charged with killing his mother, Carmen Gordon, 68, at the Cozzens Court residence, Middlesex County District Attorney Yolanda Ciccone said.
Cozzens Court is in the Crosspointe community off Highway 18, where 77-year-old Daniel Dodera died in the Lear Court fire early Tuesday morning.
At approximately 11:09 a.m. Thursday, police received a 911 call requesting a welfare check on the residence, Ciccone said.
Authorities conducted multiple checks of the home before finding the mother unresponsive in her home with fatal injuries.
An investigation by Detective Robert Turing of the East Brunswick Police Department and Detective Kevin Schrock of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office led to the identification of the son as a suspect, Ciccone said.
Jason Gordon was charged Friday with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon.
