A Riverside Drive resident died from his injuries, sustaining a head injury caused by a fallen tree he cut down.

At about 11:32 a.m. on Feb. 20, the Hillsborough City Police Department responded to 786 Dr. Riverside for a man who did not respond at the entrance.

Officer 911 was told that the victim, according to police, had been knocked down by a tree.

Hillsborough police officers arrived at the scene and began rescue operations against the male victim, 68-year-old Frank Abyt Jr.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Abate facilitated the felling of a tree on the property. The felled tree began to fall, and as he walked away, a fallen tree hit him in the head, resulting in a head injury.

The abbot was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is being investigated by the Hillsborough City Police Department.

According to the statement, members of the Hillsborough Police Department, medics Robert Wood Johnson, ambulance Robert Wood Johnson, New Jersey police medics and a regional forensic expert arrived at the scene.
