TRENTON – Antvan Bridget scored 20 points, Devontay Hutson finished with 18, and the dynamic duo of the basketball team Trenton High, seeded seventh, helped to overtake Manalapan, seeded 10th, with a score of 70-63, Group IV in the first round of Group IV on Monday night.

Calvin Moore added 13 points to the Tornado as they took control of the game, beating the brave by eight points in the third quarter.

On Wednesday in the quarterfinals Trenton will meet Monroe, who sowed under the second number, who won with a score of 50-49 over the Old Bridge, which sat under the 15th number.

Gabe Blackwell scored 18 points and Michael Serret added 16 for Manalapan.

HIGHSTOWN – Ryan Curry posted a triple-double, scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists to lead the Cougars, seeded 12th (14-11), in total over fifth-seeded Rams (13-12).

Montgomery advanced to Wednesday’s quarterfinal match against fourth-seeded South Brunswick.

Central Group II

Nottingham 67, Spotswood 56

Hamilton – Tammy Cabiau scored 25 points, Kwion McMillan added 15, and the Northstars, seeded seventh, overtook the 10th seeded Spotswood in the first round.

Jordan Raba and JP Dickerson scored 11 points each for Nottingham, who won the second half 45-27.

The wards of Chris Slave on Wednesday will go to the quarterfinal match in “Bound Brook”, which was sown under the second number. Bound Brook won the 15th issue of Manmouth Regional, 65-47, in its first-round game.

Spotswood was led by Roman Corone with 24 points.
