On Monday, February 28, the Russian invasion of Ukraine lasted for the fifth day. Ukrainian forces put up fierce resistance when Russia launched attacks from Crimea in the south, an attack on Kharkiv’s second largest city and an attack on the Ukrainian capital Kiev.
The United States and its allies have responded with harsh sanctions, including disconnecting some Russian banks from Swift’s international payment system.
Earlier on Sunday, the Armed Forces of Ukraine published an updated assessment of Russian losses, including 1 anti-aircraft missile system. The Ukrainian official account also lists 4,300 people (killed and wounded), 200 prisoners of war, 46 aircraft, 26 helicopters, 146 tanks and 706 armored vehicles of various types.
