Shooting in Queens: 23-year-old man shot twice in the chest, killed in St. Albans

ST. ALBANS, Queens (WABC) – A 23-year-old man was shot dead in Queens on Monday night.

Police say the shooting took place on 116-19 Mexico Street in the St. Albans area of ​​Queens around 4 p.m.

They say officers found the 23-year-old victim face up on the floor of a basement apartment with gunshot wounds to the shoulder, torso and thigh.

He was taken to a Jamaican hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have identified the victim as Brooklyn resident Daniel Ortiz.

Police say eight shell casings were found at the scene.

There have been no arrests and no motives have been reported yet.
