“If we were asked, we wouldn’t stand in the way,” Burbock said.

In response to the comments, Berbak Morawiecki said “the pressure makes sense” and that her words were a “spark of hope” that Germany might even participate in the coalition.

Morawiecki said Baerbock “sent another message that gives a spark of hope that Germany will not only no longer block, but may finally offer heavy modern equipment in support of Ukraine.”

“We are constantly putting pressure on the government in Berlin to make it available to Leopards,” Morawiecki said at a press conference in the western city of PoznaƄ.

According to Moravetski, there are “more than 350 active leopards and about 200 are being preserved” in Germany.

The Ukrainian government has said that tanks, particularly German-made Leopards, are crucial in trying to fend off Russian forces.

Burbock suggested that Germany might be open to sending tanks to Ukraine German officials “knowing how important these tanks are” and “that’s why we are currently discussing this with our partners”.

During the meeting in Ramstein Air Base in Germany on Friday, supporters of Ukraine promised to send billions of dollars in military aid.

Germany is a major arms donor to Ukraine and has ordered a review of its Leopard 2 stockpile in preparation for a potential tank shipment. Nevertheless, the German government was cautious about increasing military aid to Ukraine.

But Moscow responded to promises to transfer modern Western weapons to Ukraine, emphasizing its warnings that escalation threatens disaster. “We have repeatedly said that escalation is the most dangerous path, and the consequences can be unpredictable,” said Rabkov. “Our signals are not heeded, and Russia’s opponents continue to raise the stakes.”
