EAST SETAUKET, Suffolk County (WABC) – A woman was killed and a man and a 10-month-old child were hospitalized after a house on Long Island caught fire shortly after midnight.

Firefighters responded to a burning house on the road in the Old Town and reports of trapped residents on Friday at 1:01 a.m. in the Eastern Setaket.

Two residents, a man and an infant, were pulled from the blaze and taken to nearby Stony Brook University Hospital for burns.

A woman died in the fire.

A fire marshal and detectives from the Suffolk County Police Homicide and Arson Division are investigating the cause.

Firefighters were fighting heavy fire, prevented by strong winds.
